Tennessee man sues Popeyes over ‘time wasted’ after it ran out of chicken sandwiches

A Tennessee man filed a lawsuit against Popeyes this week after the fast-food chain ran out of chicken sandwiches, alleging the company took part in “false advertising” and “deceptive business practices.”

Craig Barr is seeking $5,000 in damages from the chain, NBC News reports, citing court documents.

Barr, who is representing himself in the case, reportedly claims he was “hustled out of $25″ after a man allegedly said in a Craigslist ad that he worked at a Popeyes restaurant and could get sandwiches that it was hiding.

While driving to multiple locations to find the so-called hidden sandwiches, Barr said he suffered rim and tire damage totaling $1,500 and was humiliated when his friends laughed at him, according to NBC News.{mosads}

“Countless time wasted driving to and from Popeyes. No chicken sandwich. Was told to come back this day — still no sandwich,” Barr wrote in the summons, according to local station WTVC.

The lawsuit comes after Popeyes’ new chicken sandwiches have become a viral sensation after being launched earlier this month, fueling long lines and wait times and catalyzing an internet debate over what is the best fast-food chicken sandwiches.

The chain announced on Tuesday that the highly demanded menu item would be sold out at all locations by the end of the week, but that they will be back soon.
