Netflix denies that it is scrapping binge model in favor of weekly episode releases
Netflix on Tuesday denied reports that it is ditching its binge model in favor of releasing shows’ episodes on a weekly basis.
After a number of outlets reported that the streaming service was abandoning its current model — in which a series’ entire season is released at once, allowing users to watch at their own pace — Netflix tweeted that the practice of releasing episodes weekly “isn’t new.”
The company added that only two shows are embracing the change as a means of keeping their endings a surprise: “The Great British Baking Show” and rap competition series “Rhythm & Flow.”
the weekly release of licensed titles (like Great British Baking Show) isn’t new and in hopes of keeping Rhythm + Flow’s winner a surprise, we’re trying something new! but not happening with more shows than that

{mosads}The new season of “The Great British Baking Show,” which is in its seventh installment, has already seen the shift in its release model. Only one episode is released at a time, with the program showing dates when the upcoming episodes will become available.
Netflix’s new show “Rhythm & Flow,” which features T.I., Cardi B and Chance the Rapper, will see its episodes released in groups each week, with the first four episodes dropping on Oct. 9, the second three episodes released on Oct. 16 and the final trio available Oct. 23.
As opposed to the binge model, streaming viewers will have to keep up with the reality competition in the same way as if they were watching the show on cable.
Netflix was not immediately available for further comment.
