NBC had previously reported that thousands of military families in the U.S. can’t afford food and require the help of federal assistance, charities and relatives.

Feeding America has a network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs, according to its website. More than 46 million people receive assistance from the network every year, according to the group.
