Billionaire to host top-dollar fundraiser in New York City for President Trump

Wall Street billionaire John Paulson is hosting a top-dollar fundraiser for President Trump’s 2020 campaign while the president is in New York next week. 

Paulson, who made his billions betting against the U.S. housing market before the Great Recession of 2008, was an early supporter of Trump during the 2016 presidential election after he received the Republican party nomination. He is also an economic adviser to the president, Fox Business reported.

Tickets to the fundraiser are currently going for $2,800 each, Fox Business reported.

{mosads} Trump will be in New York City addressing the United Nations before attending the fundraiser. He will host and provide keynote remarks at the Global Call to Protect Religious Freedom event on September 23, according to a Wednesday White House statement.

“The President is working to broaden international support for ongoing efforts to protect religious freedom in the wake of increasing persecution of people on the basis of their beliefs and a growing number of attacks on and destruction of houses of worship by state and non-state actors,” the White House announced Wednesday.

The president will also be joined by Vice President Mike Pence at the U.N., according to the statement
