Sanders on what he admires about Trump: ‘I’m impressed by people who get up at 3 o’clock in the morning’

Asked to name something he admires about President Trump on Sunday, presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) identified Trump’s hair and the early hours he keeps, according to the Des Moines Register.

After a Drake University student and a participant in a youth forum organized by the Register and Des Moines Public Schools asked Sanders the question, the Vermont senator initially quipped that he admired the president’s hair.

{mosads}Sanders went on, however, to say that while he respects and admires several of his Republican colleagues in the Senate, he is dismayed that the party has “moved far to the conservative right” since the Eisenhower administration, repeating his frequent characterization of Trump as a racist and a misogynist.

Coming back to the topic at hand, Sanders said, “He gets up at 3 o’clock in the morning to tweet. I’m impressed by people who get up at 3 o’clock in the morning.”

Sanders has frequently condemned Trump as a racist, telling the crowd at the event, “You have to speak that out. And I have to do everything I can to take that kind of behavior on.”
