Trump accuser E. Jean Carroll raises double standard over president, Rep. Hill

A woman who accused President Trump of sexual assault hinted at there being a double standard between how allegations against President Trump and Rep. Katie Hill (D-Calif.) are being handled.

Elle magazine columnist and author E. Jean Carroll, who made her accusations public in June, alluded in a tweet that allegations against Hill were being taken more seriously than those against Trump. 

“When 15 women come forward to say Congresswoman Katie Hill sexually assaulted them, belittled them, and sneered at their honor, THEN I will pay attention,” she posted.

The columnist’s book, which detailed allegations that Trump raped her in a New York department store dressing room in the 1990s, officially came out in July. An excerpt was published in New York Magazine in June.

Trump responded to the allegations saying she was “totally lying” and that “she’s not my type.”

{mosads}Since 2015, more than a dozen women have alleged Trump participated in sexual misconduct over decades. The president has denied all allegations. 

Hill admitted to having an “inappropriate” relationship with a campaign aide on Wednesday after the House Ethics Committee announced it was investigating the California representative. The conservative site RedState published an article last week alleging Hill’s sexual relationship with a staff member along with a nude photo of the representative with a female staffer.
