Alaskan university will allow students to pay for parking tickets by donating PB&J for others in need

A university in Alaska will allow anyone with unpaid parking fines to reduce or completely pay them off by bringing in jars of peanut butter and jelly.

The donated food will go to the University of Alaska – Anchorage’s food bank, which provides food to students in need, according to local outlet KTUU

{mosads}Officials at the university said each person could use PB&J payments for two citations they have received within the past 45 days.

Those who bring in two 16-ounce jars will get a $10 credit; three jars, a $35 credit and five jars, a $60 credit.

The university said any unopened, commercially-produced nut butter, including almond, cashew or peanut, and any flavor jam, jelly, marmalade or preserves will be accepted.

The PB&J payments will be accepted through Friday.
