4 dead in mass shooting at California backyard party

At least four people were fatally shot and several more wounded in Fresno, Calif., on Sunday when a gunman opened fire on a group gathered for a backyard party.

According to CNN, the gunman remains at large. At this time, local police have told the press that there are no signs that the shooter had any relationship with the victims.

Roughly 40 people had gathered at the house for a football watch party on Sunday when police received reports of gunshots.

According to CNN, Fresno Police deputy chief Michael Reid said three victims were found dead at the scene. Another man was reportedly pronounced dead after being rushed to a hospital.

The Associated Press reports that the four victims pronounced dead were Asian men between the ages of 25 and 30.

Six other people who were shot have reportedly received medical attention but are not suffering from life-threatening wounds.

“What we do know is that this was a gathering, a family and friend gathering in the backyard,” Fresno Police Lt. Bill Dooley said, according to AP. “Everyone was watching football this evening when unknown suspects approached the residence, snuck into the backyard and opened fire.”

Local authorities are reportedly trying to track down possible surveillance footage of the shooting suspect from neighbors in the area.

Last week, two people were fatally shot and four others were injured at a high school near Los Angeles.
