Grocery store behind viral reusable bag at impeachment hearing offers ‘free briefcase’ promotion
The grocery store behind the reusable shopping bag that House GOP counsel Steve Castor brought to the House Judiciary Committee’s public impeachment hearing on Monday is declaring itself “the official briefcase maker of Steve Castor.”
“We’d like to announce that we are the official briefcase maker of Steve Castor. You can fill your briefcase up with files or yummy food (our preference),” The Fresh Market announced on Twitter on Monday afternoon after some confused the bag as being from Whole Foods.
The grocery chain also said it would be offering a promotion for users interested in getting their hands on the same “briefcase” from now until Tuesday.
“Mention hashtag #TFMBriefcase over the next 24 hours in-store to get your own briefcase for free (aka reusable bag!)” it told customers.

Earlier on Monday, Castor raised some eyebrows online after he was seen bringing the reusable bag into the hearing and unloading his materials ahead of his testimony before lawmakers as part of the House’s ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
The bag caught the attention of a number of political journalists, some of whom jokingly referred to the item he used to hold his hearing materials as his “briefcase.”

George Conway, a conservative lawyer and the husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, also joked that it was a “very liberal-looking” bag for Castor.
