Yang re-ups challenge to play Ted Cruz in one-on-one basketball

Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang reiterated his challenge to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for the two to play a one-on-one game of basketball, with the loser donating money to the winner’s charity of choice.

Speaking to reporters while on his campaign bus, Yang alleged that Cruz is ducking the offer the two agreed upon in September, and Yang and his team’s attempts to secure a date to play Cruz have been unsuccessful.

“You accepted my challenge online, apparently you figured out that I am going to beat you so now you’re ducking me and my team anytime we try to set up a date,” Yang said.

The two prominent figures from opposite sides of the political aisle previously engaged in a playful Twitter feud when Cruz challenged Yang to a four-on-four game, including three paid staff members for each side.

Yang fired back, instead suggesting they should play each other one-on-one, to which Cruz agreed.

Cruz then posted a gif of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson that said, “Just bring it,” and it appeared the two had informally agreed to play each other.

Yang has taken to calling the senator out since he has apparently yet to follow up on the agreement.

“Are you the kind of leader and senator that agrees to something and then pretends you didn’t agree to it?” Yang said.

He also jokingly referred to Cruz as a “dirty, sweaty player” who apparently “hacks” opposing players.
