Notre Dame cathedral, Hurricane Dorian top Google news searches in 2019

Hurricane Dorian and the Notre Dame cathedral were the most-searched news topics on Google in the U.S. in 2019, according to the search engine

The storm ravaged the Bahamas this year and the French cathedral was badly damaged by a fire.

In terms of searches, they were followed by the Women’s soccer world cup; the Area 51 raid and Copa America, a men’s soccer tournament.

The El Paso shooting and government shutdown also made the top ten list.

Overall searches in the U.S. this year were led by Disney Plus, a new streaming service; Cameron Boyce, an actor who died this year; and Nipsey Hussle, a rapper who was killed.
