2012 Watch: Obama finally ‘rose to the occasion’ on Iran, Romney says
Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney (R) said President Obama on Tuesday “finally” said what he should have been saying all along on Iran.
“Well, I’m glad the president finally did rise to the occasion here,” Romney, a potential 2012 Republican presidential contender, said on CBS’ “Early Show.”
At his Tuesday press conference, Obama said he was “outraged” and “appalled” by Iran’s crackdown on dissenters.
Romney, though, wasn’t entirely satisfied with Obama and said that the president should have made similar remarks weeks ago.
“Well, in realistic terms, the president should have spoken from the very beginning, expressing the fact that we will always stand with forces of freedom throughout the world and that we will oppose tyranny,” Romney said.
But, Romney also added that he was “pleased” with Obama’s remarks.
