Peloton has canceled its live classes after an employee tested positive for coronavirus, a spokesperson confirmed Monday.

The company emailed its members to say it has stopped production in its New York and London studios until April 30. It will continue to provide pre-recorded classes to members.

“We had continued to operate both our New York and London Peloton studios in adherence with guidance provided by the local governments and public health authorities in both regions,” the spokesperson said.

“That said, we have decided to pause production of all live classes… in the interim, we will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves,” it added.

The company said it “firmly believes” its videos are “essential to supporting the wellbeing of our communities through this time of social distancing and isolation.”

Peloton faced intense scrutiny in December on social media for an advertisement showing a wife thanking her husband for her exercise bike that many found sexist, affecting the company’s stock value
