Anti-Trump Republican group launches ‘count every vote’ campaign in Pennsylvania

The anti-Trump GOP group Republicans for the Rule of Law is launching more than 100 billboards in Pennsylvania calling on officials to “count every vote” as results continue to trickle in from the battleground state.

The digital billboards feature an image of an American flag with the phrase “count every vote.”

“This stands to serve as an important reminder at a time when Pennsylvania’s vote may be the key to deciding the presidential race, and the count has been slowed by an unprecedented amount of mail-in ballots and the president’s calling for a stop to the count,” the organization said in a Wednesday statement.

President Trump’s reelection campaign on Wednesday sued to stop the ongoing ballot counting in Pennsylvania. Trump leads Democratic nominee Joe Biden in the state by nearly 300,000 votes, The Associated Press reported as of Wednesday evening.

Trump’s campaign is seeking to intervene in a case pending before the Supreme Court that would block a previous decision to count mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania that are received by Friday. The ballots currently must be postmarked by Election Day.

Republicans for the Rule of Law said Wednesday that the majority of its billboards will run in the Philadelphia market as well as in Pittsburgh, Allentown, Harrisburg and other cities across the state.

The group also announced Wednesday it will digitally advertise a new video across the critical swing state. The clip, which the group shared on Twitter, states that “America is founded on the idea that each and every citizen gets a say in their government. Generations of Americans have fought and died for this right. That’s why we count every vote.”

“Even if it takes time, we make sure that the voters are heard. This is the idea that makes America America. Count every vote,” the video continues.

The Trump campaign signaled weeks before Election Day that it would take legal action in a close race for the White House. The AP called the critical states of Wisconsin and Michigan for Biden on Wednesday, and, according to the outlet, the former vice president leads the president 264 electoral votes to 214 as of Wednesday evening.
