Kremlin: Musk invitation to Putin to chat on Clubhouse ‘some kind of misunderstanding’
A spokesperson for Russian President Vladimir Putin said that billionaire Elon Musk’s invitation to chat on invitation-only chats app Clubhouse was “some kind of misunderstanding.”
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Musk never responded to a follow-up query, Bloomberg News reports.
“Apparently there was some kind of misunderstanding,” Peskov said, according to the news outlet. “Most likely, this matter is exhausted.”
Earlier in February, Musk extended an invitation to Putin on Twitter for the two to speak on Clubhouse, saying “.@KremlinRussia_E would you like join me for a conversation on Clubhouse?”

In a follow up tweet, Musk tweeted in Russian that “it would be a great honor to speak with you,” Reuters reported at the time.

At the time, Peksov called the offer a “very interesting proposal,” but said more information was needed before Putin would respond.
Peskov said at the time that Putin doesn’t personally use social networks directly, according to the news service.
