Threats lead Rep. Moore to forego town halls

Rep. Dennis Moore (D-Kan.) has received at least two threats regarding healthcare reform and consequently will not hold any town halls on the issue.

Moore says he received one threat via telephone but wouldn’t explain the nature of the second threat, a Fox affiliate in Kansas City reports.

Police are investigating both incidents.

“I expect to have differences with people, differences of opinion. And, I respect people’s opinions. But, I expect exchanges we have to be respectful and not threatening. As a former prosecutor, I certainly do not tolerate threats well and that’s why I contacted the police department,” Moore said.

Moore told Fox 4 that he hasn’t seen as much public anger over an issue since the Vietnam War.
