Rural community leaders call on Gaetz, Greene to ‘stop dividing America’ ahead of US tour
Rural Voices USA is calling on Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to “stop dividing America” ahead of their “America First Tour.”
“Rural Voices USA, the non-partisan network of rural community leaders across America, today purchased a billboard at The Villages, near the site of U.S. Representatives Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene’s ‘America First’ rally, that calls for unity,” the group said in a press release.
The Florida billboard calls the two representatives by name saying “stop trying to divide us” and “we are all Americans first.”
The group plans to keep putting these billboards up at different stops throughout the representatives’ tour.
“These rallies represent everything that’s wrong with American politics right now,” Board President of Rural Voices USA Christopher Gibbs said. “The reason we have rioters storming the Capitol over false claims of a stolen presidential election is because of the inflammatory rhetoric that will be on full display at tonight’s rally. This will not be reasoned political discussion. It will be grievance, anger and spite.”
Gaetz and Greene have been pushing former President Trump’s election fraud conspiracy theories and have been two of the most controversial members in Congress.
Gaetz is under federal investigation after having been accused of having sex with teenage girls. He denies the accusations.
Greene has posted about believing in conspiracy theories such as QAnon and false flag events for school shootings, She has also posted violent statements against Democrats and lost her committee assignments over her behavior.
“The billboard is our way of asking would-be rally attendees to take a step back and remember that we are all Americans and that we can disagree without being divisive. Our hope is that the good people of Orlando join us in focusing on how we can find areas of agreement that will be so important as we all rebuild and recover from the last year,” Gibbs said.
