4 killed, 4 injured in shooting on Chicago’s South Side

A shooting in a home on Chicago’s South Side early Tuesday morning has left four dead and four injured, according to police.

The shooting took place after an argument erupted into gun fire in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood, an area of the city that has experienced a high level of violence, The Associated Press reported.

Authorities have not released details about the victims, and it is still unclear if there was more than one shooter involved in the incident, according to the AP.

Police Superintendent David Brown during a Tuesday press conference stated that three of the deceased are female, and the fourth is a male, according to the wire service. Three men and one woman was also injured.

The injured included two men who were shot in the back of the head. One man who was shot in the back and one woman are in critical condition, police said.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Law enforcement also said a 2-year-old was removed from the home where the shooting took place and is now in protective custody.

The Chicago shooting follows another shooting in Alabama on Tuesday that left two dead and two injured.

The shootings add to the more than 260 mass shootings that have been seen in the U.S. in 2021 thus far.
