Coach says NFL’s Buccaneers are 100 percent vaccinated

The head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Thursday that the entire organization has been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.

“We’re 100 percent vaccinated — our entire organization — all the players, all the coaches, everybody,” Bruce Arians said, according to ESPN.

The Buccaneers, who won the Super Bowl last season, are the second NFL team to reach 100 percent vaccination status, with the Atlanta Falcons being the first.

Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette had initially refused to get vaccinated but told ESPN that he later made the decision to get the shot.

“It’s something I wanted to do, trying to put the team [out of] harm’s [way],” he said. “People are still catching it, but it makes it a lot better to have the shot. We need every hand in here for these next couple big games we’ve got coming up.”

“I just prayed on it,” Fournette added. “So whatever happens, happens. I’m just trying to be the best teammate I can be. Not causing no more than what we can handle now as-is. People getting sick each and every day. Just trying to be the bigger person and get it over with.”

The Buccaneers are set to host the Dallas Cowboys at Raymond James Stadium on Thursday for the season opener.
