Rudy Giuliani becomes grandfather after son welcomes child
Rudy Giuliani’s son Andrew Giuliani and his wife welcomed their first child on Monday, making Trump’s former personal attorney a grandfather, Page Six reports.
Andrew Giuliani and his wife, Živilė Rezgytė, announced the birth of their daughter in a Tuesday Instagram post.
“Grace Juzefa Giuliani gave Zivile and I the greatest joy we could ever imagine when she was born to us yesterday,” wrote Andrew Giuliani, who is running as a Republican to be New York’s governor.
He added, “Happy Birthday to our little Angel and thank you to all the family and friends who have prayed for us and have welcomed our wonderful baby Grace into the world!”
Rudy Giuliani shared celebratory messages of his own, posting on his Instagram story, “I just became a grandfather!” He also shared his son’s Instagram post along with the prayer and heart emojis.
Andrew Giuliani, the only son of the former New York mayor, announced his entrance into the New York governor’s race in May. The 35-year-old, who served four years in the Trump administration, told the New York Post that running for governor felt natural.
“I’m a politician out of the womb,” he told the paper. “It’s in my DNA.”
Giuliani faces a tough challenge for the GOP nomination from Long Island Rep. Lee Zeldin, an Army veteran and former state senator. He also is running against former Westchester County executive Rob Astorino, the 2014 Republican nominee.
