Rittenhouse to speak at Turning Point USA event

Kyle Rittenhouse is set to speak at the conservative Turning Point USA conference starting on Saturday.

“There’s a lot of people that want to hear what he has to say and there’s a tremendous amount of interest,” Turning Point spokesman Andrew Kolvet said, AZ Central reported.

“You know, he didn’t ask for it, but he became this cultural symbol, a touch point of self-defense. He got thrust into that, and he has a story to tell,” he added.

The conference will take place for four days at the Phoenix Convention Center. Rittenhouse will speak on a panel Monday called “Kenosha on camera.”

Rittenhouse was acquitted in November of all charges against him after he shot and killed two protesters last year in Kenosha, Wis. The jury found the then-17-year-old acted in self-defense.

The conference has many conservative commentators and politicians lined up, including Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Donald Trump Jr.

Rittenhouse has done multiple media appearances since his trial in Nov., recently telling a podcast host he should not be congratulated about the killings.

Co-host Sydney Watson of the right-wing podcast “You Are Here” congratulated Rittenhouse, saying it is “kind of impressive” that “of all the people that you shot at, you killed probably two of the worst on the planet.”

“It’s nothing to be congratulated about,” Rittenhouse responded. “Like, if I could go back, I wish I would never have had to take somebody’s life.”
