Brown-Waite to make major announcement

The announcement is scheduled for a Lincoln Day dinner Friday night in Hernando, Fla. Speculation has it that Brown-Waite may retire, though there is no confirmation.

In a statement from her office, Brown-Waite’s staff says: “Amongst family, friends, longtime supporters and party faithfuls,
Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite is expected to make a major
announcement.”

The recent Democratic retirements have given Republicans plenty to cheer about, but with their own open seats starting to mount — including the retirement of Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) recently — the GOP could have some additional seats to defend.

Brown-Waite’s district went 56-43 for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in 2008.
