Obama owes Canada brewskis

President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper placed a friendly bet on Sunday’s Olympic gold medal hockey game between their two nations.

And now, after a 3-2 overtime win for Canada, Obama must pay up.

Since the Canadians won, Obama must send Harper a case of Yuengling, a popular beer on the East Coast that is brewed in Pennsylvania and is made at what is known as America’s oldest brewery.

But if the Americans won, Harper would have had to send a case of Molson Canadian to Obama.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs already lost a bet on the women’s hockey final.

Gibbs and Harper’s spokesman, Demitri Soudas, bet that if Team USA won, Soudas would brief reporters in
a USA jersey on March 3. If Team Canada won, Gibbs would have to sport a
Canadian jersey at his next off-camera meeting with reporters.

The Canadian women beat Team USA 2-0 on Thursday in Vancouver to take the gold medal.
