Obama ‘deeply frustrated’ with leaking well

Gibbs said Obama was exasperated with both BP and the federal government’s
inability to cap the leak during a meeting Monday in the White House Situation
Room.

“The president is frustrated with everything,” Gibbs said. “The president is
frustrated with everybody in the sense that we still have an oil leak. That
includes us. That includes anybody that’s involved in this. The president wants
to see this leak plugged.”

Gibbs and other White House officials have insisted that the federal government
is doing everything it can to stop the leak and any environmental or economic
damage it is doing to the Gulf region.

capping the leak could take weeks.

“I mean that the president has asked that everything in our power be done,
everything in our power is being done,” Gibbs said. “The frustration that the
president has is that despite all of that and despite the efforts of others,
there still continues to be a very large oil leak.”

Gibbs said he did not want to “get in the middle of the
finger-pointing” among oil company executives testifying in front of a Senate
panel on Tuesday. He said the administration is involved in its own active
investigation to find out what went wrong and who is responsible.
