Biden hosts recovering son’s fundraiser

Vice President Joe Biden hosted a fundraiser this afternoon for his son, who’s still in the hospital recovering from a mild stroke.

The VP gathered about 150 people at his home in Greenville, Del., today
to raise money for his son’s re-election bid as Delaware attorney general.

Though Beau Biden was unable to make the fundraiser due to his hospitalization, the elder Biden said his son is now “100 percent.”

“I promise you. I give you my word as a Biden: He’s doing well. The doctor said he’s 100 percent now. Everything is squared away. Thank God for big favors,” Biden told the crowd, according to a pool report.

But Beau wasn’t totally absent from the soiree. He addressed the crowd via speakerphone from his hospital room.

“I just wanted to call and let each and every one of you know how much I appreciate your support for me and for the family on so many levels,” he said. “I’m looking forward to getting back to work and running for re-election as well.”
