A quick House campaign update during this recess Thursday: Indiana state Rep. Mike Murphy (R) announced on Thursday that he will challenge Rep. Dan Burton (D) in the GOP primary next year, the Indianapolis Star reports.
Murphy, who was expected to run, is the fourth Republican to jump into the race against Burton.
The Hill reported in February that several Republicans, including Murphy, were considering running against Burton after his closer than expected 52 percent to 45 percent win in last year’s 5th District GOP primary.
Of course, the larger the primary field, the better it will likely be for Burton, since the challengers will split up the anti-Burton vote.
