Pro-labor group ramping up offensive on Specter on EFCA

A pro-labor group is wasting little time targeting newly Democratic Sen. Arlen Specter (Pa.) on the Employee Free Choice Act, launching a television ad in the Keystone State on the issue this week.

American Rights at Work is running the ad statewide on both broadcast and cable. The group declined to say how much money is behind the buy.

The group highlights Specter’s support for EFCA two years ago and calls on him to back the legislation again.

“Pennsylvania backed specter when he was the deciding voted for President Obama’s stimulus package,” the narrator says. “Specter usually does the right thing. Two years ago he supported the Employee Free Choice Act…So now where will Specter stand?”

“Call and tell Specter Pennsylvania’s for him as long as he’s for the Employee Free Choice Act.”

Specter has said he opposes EFCA in its current form. In fact, when Specter switched parties he specifically highlighted his opposition to the measure as a testament to his independence.
