Klein draws EFCA criticism from potential 2010 foe

Florida House Majority Leader Adam Hasner took Rep. Ron Klein (D-Fla.) to task over the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), on which Hasner is pressuring Klein to withdraw his previous support.

A potential 2010 foe, Hasner pressured Klein to say whether or not he still supports the measure, which he cosponsored during the last Congress. (Klein’s office has said it would “review” the legislation.)

“The people of Florida deserve to know if Ron Klein will stand up and protect their right to a secret ballot, or if he will vote in lock-step with Washington Democrats and strip American workers of their fundamental right to a secret ballot,” Hasner said, as reported by the Palm Beach Post.

According to the Post, Hasner is pushing a state constitutional amendment that would guarantee workers the right to a secret ballot in union elections.

Klein won reelection to a second term in Congress with nearly 55 percent of the vote.
