Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) said this weekend that President Barack Obama’s $3.55 trillion budget, outlined last week, has paved the way for Republicans to surge back to a majority in the House in 2010 and to retake the White House in 2012.
In an interview with controversial author Jerome Corsi at the Conservative Political Action Conference this week, Delay said that Obama’s budget is an “abomination,” according to a statement. “If the administration continues along this path,” DeLay also said, “President Obama will go down to defeat in the 2012 presidential election.”
DeLay also told Corsi that Obama’s budget lays the foundation for the Republicans to win back a majority in the House in 2010, according to the release, though the statement does not quote Delay saying that.
“With the budget the administration rolled out to Congress this week,'” DeLay said, “it’s clear President Obama does not understand economics and his goal is to advance a leftist agenda of massive spending, more social welfare entitlement programs, a huge expansion of government and increased taxes.”
