Republicans raffle off dinner with Newt

We might need to rename this the “Gingrich Blog.” In yet another sign that the former House speaker remains a leading voice in the Republican Party, the National Republican Congressional Committee is raffling off a dinner with him.

In an email to supporters, NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions (R-Texas) encouraged contributing with a free trip to the Republican fundraising dinner on June 8 that Gingrich will keynote.

“If you’ve ever watched Newt on TV and thought ‘I’d like to meet this guy,’ this is your chance!” Sessions wrote. “My team at the NRCC has reserved two seats at Speaker Gingrich’s table for one individual and his or her guest to join Newt for the 2009 Senate House Dinner. With a contribution of only $50 or more, you will be entered into the drawing.”

If there was any doubt of Gingrich’s position in the GOP, think about this: House and Senate Democrats are doing the same thing for their June fundraising dinner and they are touting a chance to meet President Obama.
