Crist skipping White House Correspondents Dinner

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R) will not be attending this year’s White House Correspondents Association Dinner in Washington.

Crist attended last year and had been scheduled to come again this year. His office cited an extended state legislative session, which is set to end today.

The governor, of course, is expected to announce his plans to run for Senate as early as next week.

He has drawn some heat from Democrats (and likely primary opponent Marco Rubio) for being a celebrity-like politician who spends a lot of time on extra-curricular activities, so maybe attending the biggest dinner in Washington isn’t a great idea right now, anyway.
