Senators’ approval ratings drop across country

Has anybody else noticed that basically every senator’s approval rating is falling?

Senate Guru has a good illustration of SurveyUSA’s recent approval ratings for 10 senators up for reelection in 2010.

Almost without exception, and without regard to party, all of them are headed downhill – from Sen. Charles Grassley’s (R-Iowa) 12-point approval drop to Sen. Ron Wyden’s (D-Ore.) six-point drop. Some are dropping faster than others, but each of them has lost approval points or gained disapproval points, and almost all have done both.

The numbers for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) – 36 percent approval and 39 percent disapproval – mirror her drop in a Marist Poll released Monday.

Sen. Jim Bunning’s (R-Kan.) approval has also dropped, according to other pollsters.

And appointed Sen. Michael Bennet (R-Colo.) recently displayed some poor approval numbers of his own in a recent Public Policy Polling survey, despite the fact that many Colorado voters barely know him.

And this comes as Americans are supposedly starting to believe in Congress again?
