Special Election set for Emanuel’s Seat

Scandal-plagued Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) set special elections on Monday to replace White House Chief of Staff-designate Rahm Emanuel in the House for early this spring.

Primary elections for the northern Chicago-area 5th congressional district will be held March 3, while the general election will be held April 7, Chicago Breaking News reported.

Emanuel represented the district from January 2003 until his resignation to become President-elect Obama’s chief of staff on Friday.

Prior to Emanuel’s win in the seat, Blagojevich had held the seat, preceding his election as governor of Illinois in 2002.
