Simmons to meet with lobbyists again

Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) is taking a lot of heat for raising basically no money in his home state, but his top GOP opponent isn’t exactly cleaning his hands of special interest and out-state money, either.

After drawing heat from Democrats for his late-March DC meet-and-greet with lobbyists at the National Republican Senatorial Committee, former Rep. Rob Simmons (R-Conn.) will meet with another group of lobbyists on Tuesday.

Four Clark and Weinstock lobbyists – former Rep. Vin Weber (R-Minn.), Ed Kutler, Jim Noone and Missy Edwards – will play host to the event at Clark and Weinstock headquarters, according to an invitation.

It’s not yet clear how much of Simmons’s money is coming from special interests, because he has yet to make his first quarter financial filings public. His campaign has said he didn’t raise a significant amount of money in late March, before the end of the period.
