Dem Poll Shows Carmouche Leading in Late La. Election

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) touted a poll Monday showing Democratic candidate Paul Carmouche with a 10-point lead over Republican John Fleming in Louisiana’s 4th congressional district.

Carmouche took 45 percent to Fleming’s 35 percent in a Democratic poll testing the two candidates for the December 6 general election matchup. The contest was delayed after Hurricane Gustav pushed the Republican primary, which Fleming won, to last Tuesday’s scheduled general election day.

The contest is one of the late, post-election opportunities Democrats hope to use to add to their increased majorities in the 111th Congress. Louisiana’s 4th district is currently held by Republican Rep. Jim McCrery, who is retiring.

The poll, conducted November 6-7, has a four percent margin of error.
