Olbermann Responds to McCain Glee Over SNL Skit

A day after John McCain’s campaign was “tickled” by Saturday Night Live’s parody of MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann, the liberal pundit suggested that the campaign should be focused on more important things.

“Honestly, everybody deserves a laugh but if on the weekend before the presidential election they spent more than seven seconds bothering with ME, the campaign staff has even less of a clue than I thought,” Olbermann wrote in an e-mail to Time’s Ana Marie Cox.

Olbermann also took a shot at the McCain campaign’s effectiveness.

“They have helped bury their own guy in the polls and helped me pass [Fox News’s Bill] O’Reilly in the ratings,” he wrote. “So, seriously, if they’d like to spend any part of the penultimate day talking about me I’ll send them all fruit baskets of gratitude.”
