John McCain’s campaign today launched its first TV ad of the presidential election to focus on Barack Obama’s association with former Weather Underground member William Ayers, continuing its recent theme of Ayers-based attacks as McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) have sought to highlight the association at rallies across the country.
The ad will be televised nationally on cable and will run on local TV in battleground states, according to the campaign.
A narrator refers to Ayers as a “terrorist,” and accuses Obama of lying about his connection to him. The Weather Underground orchestrated several domestic bombings in the 1970s.
“When convenient, he worked with terrorist Bill Ayers. When discovered, he lied,” the narrator says.
