Coleman Aims at Reid, Franken in Media Blitz

Sen. Norm Coleman (R) targeted Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Democratic opponent Al Franken in another media blitz in Minnesota’s drawn-out Senate recount.

Coleman thanked supporters for their backing as he continues to challenge a 225-vote lead for Franken certified last month by the state’s election board.

“While Al Franken, Harry Reid, and their allies may likely continue their efforts to short-circuit Minnesota election law, you can be assured that I will continue fighting to ensure that Minnesota voters — and nobody else — decide who won this election,” Coleman said in a web video Thursday.

The web video was linked to in an email supporters seeking financial support as he continues to try to win reelection to the Senate. A variety of lawmakers have contributed money to Coleman as of late, and his efforts were bolstered by a National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) fundraiser on Wednesday.

“There’s no guarantee all these ballots will be opened and counted, not any guarantee that the majority of them will be Norm Coleman or Al Franken votes,” Coleman told supporters. “I remain fully confident that when this trial concludes, when all valid votes are treated fairly and equally, I will win this election, as I did on election night.”
