Palin Endorses Perry for Texas Gov.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has endorsed incumbent Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) in his 2010 reelection bid, The Dallas Morning News reports, heating up Perry’s potential primary race against Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas).

In a letter to Texas women circulated by the Perry campaign, Palin calls Perry a “true conservative.”

“He walks the walk of a true conservative. And he sticks by his guns — and you know how I feel about guns,” Palin writes, according to the Morning News, also citing Perry’s opposition to abortion rights.

Palin’s letter does not mention Hutchison by name.

Hutchison has not announced that she is running for governor, though she formed an exploratory committee in December that allowed her to raise money for a potential run. Upon launching it, Hutchison called the committee “an important first step before an announcement can be made” about her candidacy.
