Kennedy To Run in 2010 Even If Not Appointed
Caroline Kennedy said she’ll run for Senate in New York in 2010 even if she isn’t appointed to fill the open seat this year.
The Democrat and Chronicle asked the Democrat during a Wednesday visit to Rochester whether she would indeed run in two years if she isn’t senator by then. Kennedy responded, “Absolutely.”
Kennedy is seeking to fill the seat that will be vacated by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) when she becomes secretary of State. Gov. David Paterson (D) will decide on Clinton’s interim replacement. An election will be held for the seat in 2010 to fill the rest of Clinton’s term, which ends in 2012. Another election will be held that year for a new, full term.
