Former McCain Aide: Romney for RNC Chairman

A former campaign aide to Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is looking to McCain’s former rival, Mitt Romney, to save the Republican Party.

Michael Goldfarb, a spokesman for McCain during the presidential race, said that the former Massachusetts governor would be perfect as the next Republican National Committee chairman.

“There is no one in America who has a better record than Mitt Romney at turning around failing enterprises, there is no Republican who can better deliver a message, and there is no Republican (except [Sarah] Palin perhaps) who can raise as much money,” Goldfarb wrote on The Weekly Standard’s blog.

Romney was an executive at Bain Capital and led the turn around of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, which faced allegations about bribes to Olympic officials.
Goldfarb, however, noted that Romney has expressed no interest in the job.
