Dueling Polls Show Louisiana-04 Horserace
The candidates for Congress in Louisiana’s 4th congressional district released dueling polls Wednesday and Thursday, each showing their own candidate ahead while an independent poll gives the Republican candidate an edge.
Democrat Paul Carmouche’s campaign released a poll Thursday showing him leading Republican John Fleming in the race for Louisiana’s 4th congressional district, though two other polls released yesterday show Fleming with a slight edge.
Carmouche drew 48 percent of the vote in his internal poll, leading Fleming, who received 37 percent. The poll, conducted November 18-19, has a 4.9 percent margin of error.
Fleming’s campaign released its own poll yesterday showing the Republican ahead 43-42 over Carmouche. That poll, conducted November 17-18, also had a 4.9 percent margin of error.
A SurveyUSA poll, though showed Fleming with a 47-45 percent lead over Carmouche, within the poll’s 3.9 percent margin of error.
Carmouche and Fleming will face off in December’s general election, which was pushed back after hurricanes delayed the race’s primaries to the general election date. Democrats hope to pad their majority in the House by winning the seat, which is currently held by retiring GOP Rep. Jim McCrery.
