Nevada Lt. Gov. Krolicki Considers Challenge to Reid

The first prominent Republican to signal a possible 2010 bid to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D) is Nevada Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki.

He told the Associated Press last week that he’s taking the possibility seriously. “This might be the moment,” he said. “We’re going to look at this really hard.”

On Sunday, Nevada’s top political reporter, the Las Vegas Sun’s Jon Ralston, wrote that Krolicki will look appealing as a candidate to Republicans in Washington after two prominent party members, Rep. Jon Porter and state Sen. Joe Heck, lost their races this year. Also, Krolicki’s strength among voters in rural areas, where Reid has done well in the past, can make him a formidable candidate, Ralston wrote.
