Obama Veep Team Takes Look at Retired General James Jones
Sources tell First Read that a name members of the Obama veep team have been consistently throwing into conversations with Congressional leaders this week is that of retired Marice Corps General James Jones.
Jones has served as Nato Supreme Allied Commander and to appointed posts in both the State Department and Congress.
Two other names supposedly frequently mentioned by Obama’s vetters were Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) and Ohio Democratic Governor Ted Strickland. Strickland today said he will not accept an offer to be Obama’s vice president.
The other names discussed that First Read was able to dig up are:
Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, John Edwards, Evan Bayh, Kathleen Sebelius, Ted Strickland, Mark Warner, Tim Kaine, Jim Webb, Bill Nelson, Jack Reed, Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, Tom Daschle, and Sam Nunn.
