Obama Thanks Pope, Foreign Leaders
President-elect Barack Obama returned a phone call to the Pope and several other foreign leaders today, thanking them for messages of congratulations after his election, according to Obama’s campaign.
Throughout the day, the Obama camp says, the president-elect returned calls to Pope Benedict XVI, Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and King Abdullah of Jordan.
