Franken’s Deficit Down to 236 Votes

Democrat Al Franken trails Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) by just 236 votes according to the latest vote count of their race, reports the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Coleman had held a 725-vote advantage on Wednesday. That number has dropped as more accurate vote totals have come in. On Thursday, one county said it had incorrectly reported Franken’s vote total in one town as 24 votes when it was really 124 votes.

Both candidates have received about 42 percent of the 2.9 million votes cast. The different between the two is 0.11 percent. The state is planning to hold a recount, required when the margin in a race is less than 0.5 percent.
