Signs of Big Turnout in Philadelphia
Voter turnout in Democrat-heavy Philadelphia appears to be high, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.
In four precincts, the number of voters was on pace to surpass 2004 totals. In the Germantown neighborhood precinct where 217 people voted in 2004, 140 people had already voted by 11 a.m. Tuesday. Almost four-fifths of them where Democratic voters.
Barack Obama led John McCain 51.6 percent to 44.4 percent in the Pollster.com trend line of all polls taken in Pennsylvania. McCain made the state central to his Electoral College strategy in the final weeks of the election. (Hat tip: Eschaton.)
