Report: Former GOP Rep. Foley Favors Obama
Former Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) reportedly favors Barack Obama for president, according to a short comments given to Hollywood trade newspaper Variety.
Foley was reportedly excited about former Republican Secretary of State Colin Powell’s endorsement of Obama, and said he favored Obama himself. Foley received a lifetime rating of 76.9 from the American Conservative Union, indicating a relatively conservative career in Congress.
Foley announced his retirement in 2006 after being accused of sending inappropriate messages to congressional paiges. His successor, Rep. Tim Mahoney (D-Fla.), has recently found himself in hot water for conducting several extramarital affairs, a development in which Foley has taken some pleasure, reports Variety.
