Report: FBI Investigating ACORN for Voter Fraud
Federal investigators are looking into whether the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) is engaging in voter fraud on a national basis, reports the Associated Press.
A senior law enforcement official told the wire service that the FBI is looking at the results of recent raids to see if there is a coordinated effort by ACORN to falsely register voters. Republicans have attacked ACORN for submitting invalid registration forms, including one for a voter with the name “Mickey Mouse.”
During Wednesday’s debate, John McCain questioned whether Barack Obama had specific ties to the group. Obama said that he worked with both ACORN and the U.S. Justice Department on a motor-voter registration law years ago and that the group doesn’t advise his campaign.
