Bush: No Disagreement That Something Substantial Must Be Done
President Bush sounded a cautiously optimistic tone about the bailout talks in remarks Friday morning at the White House.
“There are disagreements over the aspects of the rescue plan, but there is no disagreement that something substantial must be done,” he said.
Bush’s remarks come a day after the collapse of talks on the deal to spend up to $700 billion to buy up bad mortgage assets.
He reiterated the need to pass a rescue plan.
“We need a rescue plan. This is — it’s hard work, our proposal is a big proposal,” he said.
